- Combine and prioritize Lives wisely, such as Paladin + Blacksmith + Miner.
- Defeat strong monsters and gather at high-level nodes to earn more EXP.
- Choose the right companions for gathering, combat, or crafting and use their skills.
- Rank up, complete Life Challenges, and invest your skill points smartly.
- Use merchants in Castele, Mythria, and your Base to quickly get missing materials.
The Best Lives to Start With
In FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time, you can choose from 14 different Lives. Gathering Lives like Miner or Woodcutter are ideal early on to collect materials for various crafting recipes. These are used right away in crafting Lives like Blacksmith or Carpenter.
For combat Lives, your playstyle matters. Paladin and Mercenary focus on melee combat, while Hunter and Magician excel at ranged attacks. It’s important to match your crafting and combat Lives — that means leveling a crafting Life that provides equipment for your battle class.
Choose a crafting Life that gives you the right weapon and armor recipes for your combat Life. And to get the materials for crafting, you’ll also need the corresponding gathering Life:
Paladin & Mercenary
- Weapon (& Shield): Blacksmith
- Armor: Blacksmith
- Materials: Miner
Hunter & Magician
- Weapon: Carpenter
- Armor: Tailor
- Materials: Woodcutter
The Alchemist is a great all-rounder. It creates healing and stamina potions, as well as accessories that help in combat and while gathering. The Cook works similarly: food grants healing, stamina recovery, or stat boosts.
How to Change Your Life in FANTASY LIFE i
You can switch your Life at any time with no restrictions. Head to the Life Guild & Paladin Guild in Castele and talk to Aunt Anne. Select “Change Life” and choose one of the 14 Lives. Then visit the Life Master and complete the intro quest — or skip it if you prefer.
Fast Travel to Life Master
To avoid walking, open the menu and select “Life.” Choose a Life and press the teleport key to jump straight to the Life Master. On PC, press C. On controller, press X.
Leveling Tips: How to Rank Up Faster
Gathering Lives: Use Higher-Level Nodes
To level gathering Lives like Miner, Angler, or Woodcutter efficiently, focus on gathering from nodes that are 1–2 levels above your current one. They grant significantly more EXP. Look for weak points to deal more damage and conserve stamina.
Take companions with the same Life to gather faster. Grub, one of the first companions, grants better mining skills and stamina regeneration as your bond grows. He’ll also assist you actively while gathering.
Combat Lives: Focus on One Class
Stick to one combat Life and level it up consistently. The fastest EXP comes from defeating stronger enemies. Raise your Area Rank in Giantia to unlock tougher enemies and better resource nodes.
Bring battle-ready companions to support you. The higher your bond, the more useful their abilities become. Rouge, for example, boosts your attack, stuns enemies, and supports allies. Shirone helps with healing and buffs your magic attack — great for Mages.
Crafting Lives: Make High-Quality Items
To level crafting Lives like Alchemist, Cook, Blacksmith, Tailor, Carpenter, or Artist, craft items regularly. The higher the item quality or rarity of materials, the more EXP you get. Use new, higher-level recipes as soon as you unlock them and meet the required skill threshold.
Companions help here too. If you have an ally with the same profession, equip them under “Friends” in the crafting menu. Up to two companions can assist. They’ll not only boost your crafting skill but may provide helpful unique effects during creation.
How to Get New Recipes in FANTASY LIFE i
As you level up in a crafting Life, you’ll automatically unlock new recipes. The higher your rank, the more become available. To rank up quickly, complete Life Challenges listed under “Tasks.” Then talk to your Life Master for a rank-up.
How to Get More Skill Points
Leveling up any Life grants you skill points. Spend them under the Skill Board menu. Costs vary depending on the effect. Some skills unlock only after spending a certain number of points — others require reaching a higher rank.
How to Reset Your Skill Points
To reset your skill points, talk to Leo Lippe or Lui Lippe.
- Leo Lippe is on the counter next to Aunt Anne in the Life & Paladin Guild in Castele.
- Lui Lippe is in the Guild on your island (Kokonunu Beach, Present Era), on the counter next to Boyle, who also manages your residents.
Equip and Use Companions Effectively
To equip companions, go to the “Equipment” menu and switch tabs using 1/3 on keyboard or LT/RT on controller. Or simply click their portrait on PC.
Craft and equip new weapons, clothes, and accessories regularly to power up your team. Higher-quality gear comes with better stats and bonus effects.
Finding Weak Points Made Easy
Weak points matter when chopping wood, mining, or fishing — you deal more damage and use less stamina. An emote above your character helps you locate them:
- “!” means you’re close. Move slightly in any direction to find the spot.
- “…” means you’re far away. Turn around 180° and try again.
- Didn’t find it? Move a few steps left or right and try again.
How to Change Your Character’s Appearance
You can change your character’s appearance after reaching Task 8 in Chapter 3, “Go to the Goddess Statue.” Once the Inn is built, talk to Boyle at the left counter and select “Change Appearance.” This opens the character editor you saw at the start of the game.
Where to Find Salt and Missing Crafting Materials
Need materials you don’t want to farm? Check the merchants:
- In Castele, the Tool & Material Shop has basic gear for Tailor, Blacksmith, Carpenter, and Alchemist.
- For cooking ingredients like salt or vegetables, visit the restaurant across the street.
- Natural Stone, Mint Ore, or Yellow Stone can be found at the Blacksmith Guild material shop in Castele.
In Mythria, merchants sell more advanced materials like Leather Thread, Animal Dung, Suspicious Objects, Yellow Gel, and basic items like Bronze Ingots, Ore, or Wood Logs.
Merchant Maolo at Your Base
Once you unlock your base, Maolo becomes your go-to vendor. He sells all kinds of materials: wood, ore, fruit, salt, wool, and more. As you upgrade your base, his inventory expands — offering mid- and endgame items later on.
How to Change the Time of Day in FANTASY LIFE i
You’ll see a sun or moon icon next to the minimap, with a slowly filling blue circle. It shows the current time of day.
To skip time, visit an Inn (bed icon on the map). For 10 Dosh, you can sleep until morning or evening. Once you own a house, you can nap for free using your bed.
